The Story of Purim
Purim is a joyous Jewish holiday that commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people from the evil plans of Haman, an advisor to the Persian King Ahasuerus, during the ancient Persian Empire. The story is recounted in the Book of Esther, one of the books in the Hebrew Bible. It is a tale of bravery, faith, unity, and triumph over oppression.
During Purim, we celebrate the heroic actions of Queen Esther, who revealed Haman's plot to the king and saved her people from destruction. The holiday is filled with symbolic rituals, including reading the Megillah (the Book of Esther), giving gifts to friends and the needy (mishloach manot), enjoying festive meals, wearing costumes, and participating in merriment.
